RealTunnelŽ provides a flexible firewall NAT traversal platform which automatically and intelligently sets up calls in the most optimal and efficient way. The most efficient communication method is chosen based on how participants in a call or conference are connected. The best possible protocol for a given session is automatically used – ranging from direct calls where users are on the same network to STUN, TURN, ICE, UDP, TCP, HTTPS relaying.
It is possible to configure the system according to customer demands, e.g. always to enforce the usage of HTTPS to establish a VoIP SSL VPN. RealTunnelŽ efficiently uses TCP to deliver the real-time characteristics usually supplied by RTP/UDP to audio and video communications applications.
The RealTunnelŽ system is decomposed in a client and server part. Both can run and be purchased separately as they are both standards-based. The call completion rate is maximized by combining them though. The client can be embedded through an SDK (RealTunnelŽ Personal Client) or setup standalone through the RealTunnelŽ Enterprise Client. The RealTunnelŽ Enterprise Client targets corporate environments with requirements on supporting legacy SIP and H.323 endpoints. The RealTunnelŽ Enterprise Client is deployed on the corporate LAN and the RealTunnelŽ Servers in DMZ or centralized.
